A CD submission for copyright, will a sharpie over a burned copy CD face do?

I have one that Rev. burned the press date for the recording of, it has the date stamp of the work on it.(check cleared, yaaaay!!!)

In hoping to save that copy(both of the ones with date stamps) and send the other burned/shapied one.
Also, on the two originals if I send both on one CD it counts as two transactions? I don't wish to have a process voided on overcharges, only have the cash to send one song through offical channels at this time judging by the table of costs assigned each function @ the .gov site.

One step forward, two steps back wouldn't get me anywhere with this.

Assuming you are talking about the US Copyright Office, you should check out their new website which offers on-line registration. http://www.copyright.gov/eco/index.html

You might not be required to physically send in a copy. They have also combined the needed forms for music - Form SR and Form PA. At one time you would have needed to complete a form SR which would copyright the "Sound Recording" and a form PA to cover the "Performing Arts" portion - the lyrics. I think this has been combined as well into one form you can submit on-line.

I have not yet used the new on-line service so I can't give exact details; however, their website is very informative and answers every possible question you can think of under the FAQ section. My only advise is to go slowly when completing the registration and make sure you understand what you are being asked to answer.

Good luck and let me know what you think of the site.

Those are filing through now. I was told there is no need to submoit Best Editions IF you file eCO(saves ten on base filing rate anyways).

That was after sending, on a call to verify it had arrived. D'oh.

They consider the MP3 form usable for their purposes. The Library of Congress must handle it from there, I suppose?

:D Hope vacation went well for you(a certainty)! Thanks on your replies!

 still waiting for verification.

In the meantime I have to do some other things. A song idea needs some form of protection before getting to prospective performers.

You said previously, you can file some kind of early form that helps secure some compensation or leverage in trying to promote the ideas and songs further?

This is for a different item, one not recorded to this point, not a pending copy claim at this time....

:!: The Copy Office called today. The problem with the form was in how I listed credits. Performance rights exist for everyone involved in two weeks time.
